Poland declares war on Germany

Poland has today changed the situation it finds itself in from a ‘state of emergency’ to a ‘state of war’. 

A state of emergency is a situation in which a government is empowered to put through policies that it would normally not be permitted to do, for the safety and protection of its citizens. A state of war is when one country engages in armed conflict with another, even if neither have declared war.

The parliament of Poland gathered today for what will turn out to be the last time.

The Battle of Borowa Gora has begun, near the Góry Borowskie hills, south west from Piotrków Trybunalski and east of Bełchatów.

A single Polish light bomber (a PZL.23 Karaś), has attacked a German chemical factory in Ohlau, making it the first part of German territory to be attacked in the war.

Italy proposes a peace conference between itself, Germany, Britain, France and Poland.
