Finland appeals to League of Nations for help

On this day, Finland reached out to the League of Nations, requested help in the face of the Soviet attack.

Finnish Foreign Minister Väinö Tanner filed a formal complaint with the League, accusing the Soviet Union of an unprovoked aggression violating the 1932 Non-Aggression Pact and international law. Tanner also gave a passionate speech to the League of Nations members, describing the Soviet attack and the impact it was having on Finland.

At the same time as this appeal to the League of Nations, diplomatic representatives of Finland around the world reached out to world leaders to seek support.
