Germany and Soviet Union establish control of Polish territory

Germany and the USSR have today finalised their positions in occupied Poland.

As part of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact between Germany and the Soviet Union, German troops today pulled back to the Bug River, the agreed line between which the two countries have split Poland.

Polish troops, seeing the defence of their homeland as doomed, have started to retreat back to the border with Romania, in the hope they will be able to fight back in the future.
